Algoma Utilities is the locally owned and operated electric and water utility, serving more than 2,000 customers in Algoma, Wisconsin. Algoma Utilities was founded over 100 years ago – by the citizens of Algoma. The community’s early founders voted to establish their own city-owned utility to provide light to its downtown area and to encourage economic development.

While a lot has changed over the past century, the focus of Algoma Utilities has not. Today, we still offer our residents some of the lowest electric rates in mid-west USA - rates significantly lower than those in territories that are served by investor-owned utilities.

We also provide our customers with clean, high-quality water that meets or exceeds all state and federal standards. And, as part of the community, Algoma Utilities affords its citizens a voice in its decisions and programs.
