If you’re stuck with older, less efficient appliances, they’re costing you extra money on your utility bills. Maybe it’s time to replace those old refrigerators, freezers and room air conditioners or dehumidifiers with newer models.
Algoma Utilities and our power supplier, WPPI Energy, are now partners in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD) Program. The goal of our appliance recycling program is to promote energy conservation by reducing consumption and at the same time, reduce emissions of ozone-depleting substances and greenhouse gases through the collection and proper disposal of refrigerated appliances.
We’ll pay you a cash reward per customer when you turn in old refrigerators, freezers and room air conditioners or dehumidifiers. Room air conditioners and dehumidifiers are only picked up in conjunction with a qualifying fridge or freezer. All units must be in working order.
The appliances you turn in will be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. Useful parts will be recycled and dangerous PCBs and ozone-damaging CFCs will be recovered.
Best of all, when you replace your old appliances with newer and more energy-efficient models, you’ll save money month after month on your utility bills.
