Algoma Utilities & WPPI Energy Launch A New Branding Initiative

Algoma Utilities would like customers to know more about how they serve the electric needs of the community and keep pace with all the changing developments in the energy industry.

The locally owned and operated utility has just launched a new communications effort designed to inform the community about its connection to WPPI Energy, a regional power company with 50 members, including Algoma. The utility plans to use a new phrase on its communications to capture the essence of this connection: “Shared strength through WPPI Energy.”

Through WPPI Energy, the Algoma Utilities can buy power jointly, offer innovative products and services, and bring energy information to everyone in our community — including business people, school children, and homeowners.

All utilities with membership in WPPI Energy are “public power” utilities, meaning that they are owned by their customers and locally governed. Public power utilities are known for their community focus.

Membership in WPPI Energy helps us to provide our customers with a reliable, cost-effective and environmentally responsible energy supply, and also puts Algoma Utilities in a better position to meet future challenges and ensure a secure energy future for Algoma.

Algoma Utilities, along with 22 other municipal electric companies, was one of the original members when WPPI Energy was first formed in 1980. Customers of Algoma Utilities will see no difference in the way the utility operates, but will begin seeing the line “Shared strength through WPPI Energy” used under the utility’s name and logo in various communications pieces.

WPPI Energy is a regional power company serving 50 customer-owned electric utilities. Through WPPI Energy, these public power utilities share resources and own generation facilities to provide reliable, affordable electricity to more than 190,000 homes and businesses in Wisconsin, Upper Michigan and Iowa.
