Being part of the community we serve is a role that Algoma Utilities takes seriously. As your local utility, we work hard to be an active participant by lending a hand in community service projects and offering various educational programs.
We have pledged a strong commitment to, not only our customers, but to our community. Through a number of civic-minded activities, Algoma Utilities has fostered strong relationships that help further our connection to the community.
Contributions
We are pleased to support a number of community organizations. Each year, the utility selects a group (or groups) to make worthy contributions that will help meet a need in the community.
In 2025, we made a contribution to the following organizations:
- Algoma Youth Baseball for equipment replacement.
- Artbeet, Inc for Sonora Phonograph mural.
- Ahnapee Trailblazers team costs.
- Violence Intervention Project Inc for programs and services.
- Lakshore CAP, Rubber Ducky Diaper Depot and Point in Time event for Housing Stability Program.
- Female Hygiene products for students in ASD.
WPPI Energy also offers $ 2,000 to be used for local economic development programs. In 2025 the funds were awarded to:
The Algoma Chamber of Commerce for Shanty Days.
The Friends of Crescent Beach for Soar on the Shore.
The Friends of the Ahnapee State Trail for trailhead improvements.
School Education & Outreach funds for various programs at the Algoma School District:
Algoma Elementary School for 4k Hydroponic project.
Parts play in 4k (Magnetic LED STEM Center).
Algoma High School Drone Technology Education Course funds.
Algoma Middle & High School Special Education Funtional Living Skills classroom materials.
